Celebration at the USSA awards dinner

Tonight in Park City, Utah, the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) is recognizing five of its more than 400 local clubs nationwide for superior dedication to the progression of snow sports in 2009.

Coach Rick Kapala's Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation cross-country ski program has been named 2009 Cross Country Club of the Year and will be in contention for overall USSA Club of the Year tonight.

The announcement will be made during the USSA's awards dinner of the USSA Congress 2009 at Park City. Kapala, coach of the SVSEF program since 1987, has seen the SVSEF Nordic program win Cross Country Club of the Year three times in the last 10 years.

Other clubs in contention for the overall honor: Stratton Mountain School (Snowboarding Club of the Year); Waterville Valley (Freestyle Club of the Year); Squaw Valley Ski Team (Alpine Club of the Year); and Eau Claire Flying Eagle (Jumping/Nordic Combined).
