Reynoso puts Diamond Jaxx in pocket

First AA victory for Bellevue hurler


Bellevue minor league baseball pitcher Ryne Reynoso, 24, earned his first victory of the 2009 season Friday for the Mississippi Braves of the Class AA Southern League South.

Reynoso (1-2, 5.13 ERA, 26 innings, 29 hits, 15 earned runs, 6 HR, 22 K, 12 BB) threw three-and-a-third innings of three-hit, one run middle relief in Mississippi's 2-1 win over the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx.

Pitching against a Diamond Jaxx team (14-12) that is tied for first place in the Southern League North Division, the 6-2, 215-pound righthander whiffed five of the 14 batters he faced on his home Trustmark Park Field in Pearl, Miss. outside Jackson.

The former Wood River High School and Boston College baseball star was scheduled to make his sixth start of the season for Mississippi (14-16) Tuesday against Jacksonville (16-15). Mississippi is fourth of five teams in the Southern Divsion, and Jacksonville is third.
