Times call for Guthrie

The Blaine County School District is at a historically critical juncture. With a pending change in leadership, rapidly changing/evolving enrollment demographic, classrooms quickly reaching capacity, the increasing threat to our students from violence, alcohol, drugs, domestic abuse and economics, etc., our school district needs a board that is filled with insightful, strong, innovative and dedicated board members. On May 19, we have the opportunity to begin the process of re-building a board that needs new energy and minds.

Steve Guthrie is running for Blaine County School Board in Zone 2 and I could not be more grateful. Steve is a terrific parent of two who is 100 percent engaged in his children's growth and education. More importantly, Steve is 100 percent committed to all Blaine County students and their families.

The most obvious reflection of Steve's commitment has been his service as president of the Wood River Middle School PTO. Steve has successfully instituted positive change and has enrolled the involvement of many other parents through his efforts. Steve is also thoroughly involved in Wood River athletics and various other extracurricular school activities.

Steve Guthrie is a well-organized and dedicated professional who coordinates all security criteria at the airport. He understands that there are right ways and wrong ways to do business in the public sector. He also understands the unwavering obligation of accountability, transparency and responsiveness to the public whom he serves.

Steve Guthrie always has been accessible to the public he serves and will continue to be accessible in the capacity of school board trustee.

Steve will bring insight, innovation, energy and balanced consideration to the critical equation that is our Blaine County School Board decision-making process.
