Non

By CHRIS MILLSPAUGH

I was lunching in the forest the other day with some druids when one spoke up and told us about a town he used to live near in Oklahoma called "Non." It was supposed to be called "Cannon," but the post office said they couldn't have that name because there was already a town named Cannon. So, the city fathers selected the last three letters and town became "Non."

We have a Cannon. We could name the next town in Idaho for Joe Cannon. Joe was one of the greatest entertainers in the valley in the 1970s and 1980s. He's a legend. But after checking around I found there was already a Cannon. So I say, let's do what the Oklahomans did and name it Non, as well.

So, welcome to Non, Idaho, the home of hundreds of Non caring people in the heart of Idaho. This summer, the Non residents will be celebrating the Fourth of July holiday in the Non Performing Arts Center. Non talented folk and other Non participants are rushing now to build the Non artistic achievement by the end of June. To raise money for the erection of this Non functional facility, the first Non Beauty Contest will be held. As I write this bulletin tonight, Non attractive women from all over have been invited to compete. The sponsors this year will be Non Affordable Homes and the Non Learning Center. Many Non salaried workers will be employed this summer by Non successful construction companies in the area. The new Non Heated Community Pool and the Non Air Conditioned Movie Complex are planned for the fall.

Be sure to tune in to KNON Radio for further updates. KNON has been serving Non listeners for over a month now with its new sponsor, Non Anonymous, the treatment Center for Non Alcoholics.

Well, goodbye for now. I have to join all the Non workers in the forest. Nice talking to all of you Non readers.
