Community Awards to include silent auction
The Sun Valley-Ketchum Chamber & Visitors Bureau and the Hailey Chamber will present the 2009 Community Awards at Elkhorn Springs Restaurant on Friday, May 8, at 6:30 p.m.
The organizations solicit nominations from the public to recognize individuals, organizations and businesses that have made significant contributions to the community.
This year the awards event will include a silent auction from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Money raised will go to both chambers and to support a college scholarship awarded to the Youth Citizen of the Year.

Lunch programs to feed kids
The Hunger Coalition and the Blaine County School District will continue Lunch Connection, a free summer program at Woodside Elementary School. Children age 1-18 are welcome to nutritious meals served Monday, June 8, through Friday, Aug. 14.
Lunch will be served Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and free kids activities will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. through July 16.
The activities will be provided by the Environmental Resource Center through its Wild Lunch program during the weeks of June 8 through July 11. The Bellevue Public Library will offer story hour Tuesday, July 14, and Thursday, July 16, with free books to give away.
Summer school starts Monday, July 20, and hot breakfasts will be served at Woodside Elementary on Monday through Friday from 8-9 a.m. Lunch will be at 11 a.m. The food program concludes on Friday, Aug. 14. For details, call 788-0121.
Volunteers needed for Trailing of the Sheep Festival
The Trailing of the Sheep Festival seeks volunteer coordinators to help plan the festival, which takes place Oct. 9-11. Positions include art and food director, local historian and storytelling assistant, vendor coordinator for the Folklife Fair in Hailey, assistant for online social networking sites, fundraising and sponsorship, and wooly fashion show director. This year's festival theme is "The Wonders of Wool." For details on all the positions available at the festival, call 720-0582.
