Fire Fest Draws Young Firefighters

Potential future firefighters Leslie Serrano, left, Josie Zamora, Sienna Miley and Abby Robideaux take a break from the action at Saturday’s Wildfire Festival. The event, held at the CSI Blaine County Community Center in Hailey, was the first of its kind. Designed to educate residents about wildfire, its effects and prevention, the festival featured booths manned by every valley fire and emergency service, alongside companies and organizations. Hundreds of families turned out for the event, where they were able to explore both a living forest and a fire-ravaged landscape, as well as participate in foam demonstrations by Sun Valley Fire Department and water shuttle games courtesy of Wood River Fire & Rescue.
