Police chief issues warning to park users

Hailey police confiscated a BB gun at the Hailey Skate Park on Monday afternoon after hearing reports that someone may have been shooting it at other youngsters.

Police received a report of a disturbance at the park on south Main Street at about 4 p.m.

"By the time we got there, no one would say anything," Hailey Police Chief Jeff Gunter said Wednesday. "We did confiscate a BB gun, but no one would step forth as a victim so no one was charged."

Gunter said police have stepped up their patrols in the area of the skate park because of reports of older youngsters bullying younger kids and reports of illegal tobacco use.

"Anybody we find causing problems, we're going to give a trespass warning and they'll be removed from the park, and if they come back they'll be arrested," Gunter said.
