Politics and Prose



Pulitzer-prize winning author Anne Applebaum answers questions from high school students on assignment and valley residents interested in Russian and Eastern European politics at a book club social at Iconoclast Books in Ketchum on Friday, April 3. Applebaum said her favorite length for a writing assignment was 1,500 words with an introduction, three main points and a conclusion. Applebaum was the first Gary Hunt Memorial Writer in Residence and a guest of the men’s book club Words, Wine, Port and Cheese Literary Society. She also spoke at the Community Library in Ketchum on current Russian politics and society. Applebaum is a columnist for The Washington Post and Slate and is working on a new book about the Stalinization of post-war Central Europe
