The countywide Sustain Blaine Economic Strategic Planning group will begin to present preliminary strategies and actions at a meeting on Thursday, April 9, at 8 a.m. in the Community Room at the Wood River YMCA in Ketchum.

The strategies were formed by three local Opportunity Task Forces, along with TIP Strategies, a Austin, Texas-based economic development consulting firm hired last summer.

The task forces addressed land development, talent retention and attraction, and innovation. The latter group looked at proposals for an institute or learning center.

The three groups were made up of local residents who worked over the past few months to develop strategies for these key areas, originally identified by TIP Strategies during the initial research phase.

Jon Roberts, a managing director at TIP Strategies, said public input from the broader community would be critical heading into the final phase of work.

"The implementation phase will depend on a coordinated effort of the community to achieve the desired outcomes," he stated in a press release last week.

Sustain Blaine is the name given to an ongoing effort to promote business and economic developmnet in Blaine County.
