Horse stolen near Carey

By TERRY SMITH
Express Staff Writer

The Blaine County Sheriff's Office is investigating a horse theft near Carey.

Sheriff Walt Femling identified the missing animal as a "white, purebred Arabian mare." Valued at about $3,500, the horse was reported stolen on March 24, but may have been taken as early as March 18, from a pasture on Laidlaw Park Road about four miles east of Carey.

Femling said the mare is 5 to 6 years old and belongs to Loren Strode.

Vehicle tracks near the pasture where the animal was kept suggest that it was stolen rather than just on the loose, the sheriff said.

"It appears to be a single-axle trailer mark where the horse was loaded up," Femling said.
