Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash have a special place in the hearts of music fans of all kinds. As revered country music stars, they are American icons. At The Mint in Hailey on Friday, March 27, Doug Allen and his band, The Chicago Mob, will play a musical tribute to Cash and Carter in a performance of "Cash Forever—The Tribute."

Allen met Cash on a layover stop from Germany to Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1992. From that meeting, Allen learned about Cash and his genuine love for life, family and music. The show that Allen and his Cash Forever tribute band perform will be a rare opportunity to see beloved and familiar music performed well.

Allen is a Nashville recording artist and Country Music Association member who has performed in over 80 countries and been the recipient of the U.S. Department of Defense's Certificate of Esteem Award and the Certificate of Appreciation Award for his work in entertaining troops overseas. He has also received the Republic of Korea's Apple of Excellence Award.

Allen said he would always remember the open dialogue Cash shared with him in their meetings and that he was inspired to perform Cash's music because of them.

Allen captures the physical appearance, vocals, speech, mannerisms and spirit of the immortal Johnny Cash. In addition, he and his co-star, Nicole Evans, create on the stage the strong chemistry and comedic interaction that characterized Cash and Carter.

Tickets for "Cash Forever-The Tribute" are on sale at Chester & Jake's at The Mint in Hailey. The show starts at 9:30 p.m. Attendees must be 21 with valid identification. For details, call 788-4722.
