KB's to say adios in Ketchum

Express Staff Writer

Ketchum will lose an eating institution on March 27, at least temporarily, when KB's closes its doors on the corner of Washington Avenue and Sixth Street.

Brian Kriesien, owner of the Mexican restaurants KB's, or Ketchum Burritos, in Ketchum and Hailey, said the lease on the Ketchum building runs out at the end of March, and he hasn't found a suitable replacement to the location he's occupied for the past 15 years.

The commercial space will be taken over by Alain Gilot, owner and chef of the adjacent Bistro 44. Gilot said in January that he plans to create a new wine bar in the space.

"I'm still looking hard for a new location," Kriesien said. "We'll get back up in Ketchum, I'm just not sure when."

Kriesien said that with the spring "slack" season right around the corner, he can afford to be closed for the next few months, but would like to be operating in Ketchum again by June.

Kriesien said there will be a final event on the last day, likely with live music and food and beverage specials.
