2 injured in Gannett Road accident

Police investigate for possible alcohol involvement

Two people were treated and released at St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center following a single-vehicle accident last week on Gannett Road south of Bellevue.

The Blaine County Sheriff's Office reported that the accident occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 10, near the intersection of Gannett Road and Kingsbury Lane. The driver was identified as Danae Hayworth, 39, who had a California driver's license. She was driving a green 1995 Mazda.

"The driver said she hit an icy spot on the road and the car slid across the road and into a ditch, where the car rolled onto its side," said Sheriff's Lt. Jay Davis.

According to the sheriff's office report, Hayworth suffered a hand injury and a passenger in her vehicle, Jason Thompson, 38, last known address Arizona, suffered a head injury. Davis said both occupants were wearing their seatbelts.

They were transported to the hospital by Wood River Fire and Rescue ambulance.

Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $10,000.

Davis said Hayworth was issued a citation for a suspended driver's license. He said the accident remains under investigation to see if alcohol was involved.
