Stephen D. Donovan

Stephen D. Donovan, born July 10, 1950, died Nov. 20, 2008.

Many old friends in Sun Valley lost a true "Irish" spirit. Many of you in the mid 1970s may only have known him as "Donut" but Steve Donovan's gregarious outlook on life left our community richer for his time here. He had the wonderful experience of living here between undergraduate school and law school. His days were filled attacking Bald Mountain, caring for his faithful dog, Arrow, and generally living life to its fullest in Sun Valley.

Steve passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, from complications resulting from a traffic accident in Thailand. Raised in Bellevue, a graduate of Sammamish High School, the University of Washington, and Gonzaga Law School, Steve was in private law practice for seven years, moving on to a career with Boeing as an attorney focusing on international sales. He retired to Thailand in 1998 and was living in Pattaya Beach since then.

He is survived by his beloved children Stacy (24), Jake (21), and his former wife, Monica.

Steve possessed an extraordinarily keen intellect and was widely known for his fantastic sense of humor. He will be sorely missed by his many friends throughout the world— his former Theta Chi brothers, his Boeing friends, his expatriate friends in Thailand, and many others who appreciated his Irish sense of humor.

To celebrate Steve's life, a private memorial service was held for his family members.
