Snowcat, truck haul car off Dollar

By JON DUVAL

It took a snow cat and a tow truck, but a Toyota Land Cruiser was removed from the side of Dollar Mountain after being abandoned in the early morning hours Monday.

Sun Valley Assistant Police Chief Mike Crawford said the SUV was taken off the Elkhorn side of the mountain Wednesday morning around 8 a.m.

The vehicle was originally discovered by the operator of a Sun Valley Resort grooming machine. An apparent joy ride up the side of the mountain went awry when the driver headed off the groomed ski run and got stuck in unpacked snow.

The owner of the vehicle, a Ketchum resident, reported it stolen shortly after it was discovered. Crawford said the Ketchum Police Department is investigating the reported theft.
