One week left for Town Series, Masons still lead

Two-run finale set Wednesday on Cozy

Four teams came up with 0.00 efforts Wednesday in the best-single-run Week Six of the 18th annual Sun Valley Town Series on Baldy's Cozy ski run.

But only Wood River Masonry stayed at the 0.00 point level for the entire 2009 season.

Placing three of its four racers in the top seven, Wood River Masonry topped the 35-team field once again in the dual modified giant slalom sponsored by Sun Valley Co. and Watkins Distributing.

On Wood River Masonry are Sean Higgins, Wes Powell, Jon McCuskey and Cam Fraser.

Holding on to second place was Tekasoreass (0.32) with Carl Rixon Jr., Matt Murphy, Sean Murphy and Chris Key.

Scott USA (1.99) stayed hot for the fourth straight week with a 0.07-point day and clinched third place with JR Reagle, John Zuck, Jeff Page and Toby Arnett.

But there were some big changes in the fourth and fifth spots, knocking Cutters (John Campbell, Chase Gouley, Will Hovey and Kelly Kipling) from fourth all the way to sixth.

Three Dicks and a Chick (Curt Williams, Ken Edwards, Annelie Williams, Larry Williams) enjoyed a 0.00 Wednesday to wind up with 3.20 points for fourth place. And SVSEF (Erika Hogan, Ashley Brown, Sarah Mazzola) pulled into fifth place with 5.03 points.

Carl Rixon Jr. (23.99 seconds) clocked the fastest run Wednesday, followed by Wes Powell (24.26), John Campbell (24.91), Matt Murphy (25.21), Jon McCuskey (25.25), Randy Flood (25.27), Cam Fraser (25.82), Brett Jacobson (25.92), Sean Murphy (25.96) and 10th-place Erika Hogan (26.12).

Fastest women after Hogan were 11th-place Ashley Brown (26.22), Sarah Mazzola (26.35), Christine Cordeau (26.82) and Erika Whittaker (27.21) in 24th place. There were 101 racers with times.

Kevin Doyle of Casino Dancing Bears had the "rabbit" time of 31.13 seconds.

So it's down to Week Seven—final race of the Town Series Wednesday, March 18. Format changes to combined two runs for the finale.

The names of 20 racers from the top five teams in the season series are entered into a drawing for the grand prize of four Sun Valley 2009-10 season ski passes. That post-race drawing takes place on Wednesday, March 18 at Apple's Bar & Grill, Warm Springs, Ketchum.
