Feb. 28, 2009, the 53rd annual alpine ski races on Dollar Mountain sponsored by the Papoose Club community service organization and First Bank of Idaho. There were 271 ski racers—144 girls and 127 boys—plus 14 snowboarders for a total of 286 youngsters participating—47 more than last year. Papoose Club member and Kindercup chair Beth Green expressed her thanks to the kids who came out to the race and their parents for all the support, plus the following businesses and individuals: Sun Valley Company for the use of Dollar Mountain and the free lift tickets for all the participants; First Bank of Idaho for sponsoring the event, enabling all the participants to receiver a finishers' pin, a gold coin and beautiful medals for the top placers; and the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation coaches for setting the courses, working the starting gates, the electronic timing on the long course, and all the other work involved to make the race run so smoothly, especially Doran Key and her group Orlie Sather, Kat Latham, Kathryn McNeal, Hank Minor and Don Wiseman.
