Hailey police investigate vehicle vandalism

20 windows shot out with BB or pellet gun

Someone's shooting out vehicle windows in Hailey with a BB or pellet gun, and Hailey police are trying to find out who.

"We've had about 20 now," Police Chief Jeff Gunter said Monday. "I want to catch these guys. It's really starting to irritate me."

Gunter said the random vandalism has taken place during the past 10 days. Police estimated damage to the vehicles at about $400 each.

"Nineteen out of 20 have been in Woodside," he said, referring to the southeast area of the city.

"The problem is, you can drive along with a passenger shooting and it doesn't make a lot of noise," the chief said. "Anyone hearing anything, vehicles slowing down or dogs barking or any suspicious activity, should give us a call."
