SVSEF freestylers a holiday hit at Tamarack

Slopestyle, moguls and halfpipe near McCall


The Sun Valley Freestyle/Freeride team traveled to Tamarack Resort near McCall over Presidents' Day weekend.

Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation coaches Andy Ware, Joey Cordeau, Ben Verge and Christine Cordeau accompanied 25 athletes to Tamarack for the weekend.

The Freeride team took control of Friday's slopestyle, claiming three of the top five overall spots. J1 Colter Brehmer won men's overall with Austin Moses fourth. J3 Ben Parker had his best finish ever in fifth.

Alysha Herich was the lone female SV slopestyle skier. She finished first in the F4 group and third overall. Zana Davey skied with authority all weekend in moguls. She was first in singles and duals Saturday and Sunday and third in Monday's halfpipe, which wrapped up the weekend.

Austin Moses came out of retirement from moguls and won the overall in single moguls and placed third in dual moguls. On Sunday Nathan Moses took second place in duals.

Monday's halfpipe was dominated by Sun Valley. Anita Vorsteveld grabbed second overall in the first event. On the men's side, the team captured five of the top 10 overall spots. Colter Brehmer finished first in the J1 class and second overall twice. Trace Page took second in J1 and third overall in the first event.

This week the team is staying home to train and will be hosting the Rotarun locals' slopestyle Saturday night, Feb. 21. It is open to snowboarders and skiers of all ages.

Registration and training at Rotarun is from 5-6 pm. Saturday. The cost is $5 entry and $12 lift tickets.

M3: Ben Parker (2nd/10th overall).

M2: Tai Barrymore (3rd/9th overall), Connor Braatz (5th/14th overall), John Chrysikopoulos (14th) and Nathan Moses (10th).

M1: Colter Brehmer (1st/1st overall) and Austin Moses (2nd/4th overall).

M3: Joey Richardson (1st/4th and 3rd/9th overall), Trevor Norris (4th/6th and 11th/14th overall), Trevor Brand (6th/5th and 13th/10th overall) and RJ Bracken (8th/7th and 15th/16th overall).

F2: Zana Davey (1st/1st and 1st/1st overall plus 1st in duals) and Aunika Phillips (2nd and 4th overall plus 2nd in duals).

M2: Nathan Moses (2nd/5th and 5th/13th overall plus 2nd in duals), Will Eagan (8th/3rd and 11th overall) and Parker Page (7th/6th and 18th overall).

F1: Kali Phillips (1st/2nd and 3rd/11th overall plus 3rd in duals).
