Hailey man arrested in Boise

Suspect faces felony theft and burglary charges

Michael H. Parker

A 20-year-old Hailey man was arrested in Boise last weekend for allegedly stealing clothing and merchandise from at least five stores.

Boise police identified the suspect as Michael H. Parker. He was being held Tuesday in the Ada County jail on suspicion of felony burglary and felony grand theft.

Police reported in a press release that Parker was apprehended in the area of Franklin and Milwaukee streets after police were notified of a shoplifter that had fled from a store.

"Officers searched the area and quickly located a man matching the suspect's description," the press release states. "After investigating, offices found evidence the suspect had stolen items from approximately five different stores in the area."

Police reported that Parker allegedly stole about $300 worth of merchandise but was arrested on a charge of felony burglary because "officers found evidence the suspect had indeed entered the stores with the intent to steal."

Police explained that the felony grand theft charge was applied because Parker's alleged actions were "defined as a series of thefts committed during a criminal episode."
