Sun Valley Animal Center Reopens as a Family Affair

After an eight-and-a-half-month hiatus due to a massive structure fire, Sun Valley Animal Center re-opened Monday for business as usual, about one mile south of St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center. Veterinarian Scott Acker was fortunate enough to stay working at the business’ old building adjacent to the newer facility, which burned. His brother Randy moved the surgery part of the business down to Bellevue at the Sawtooth Animal Center, run by a third brother, Mark. Randy’s wife, Susan, who runs the clerical end of the business, said, “We were fortunate that Mark welcomed us with open arms and we were able to keep our 22 employees working during the closure. It is somewhat sad to leave our Bellevue family, but we are really happy with our new and improved facility.” Employees were busy stocking animal food up front, but business was usual with surgeries being done in the back of the complex.
