Helen Goldberg, a 31-year resident of Ketchum (1958-1989), died peacefully at her home in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Jan. 24, two weeks after celebrating her 91st birthday at a party with her children and friends.
She was a founder of the Wood River Jewish Community and maintained the first Jewish home in Wood River Valley, led a Great Books discussion group and was active in Democratic Party politics and local education.
She is survived by her children, Esther Gilbert of London, England, and Rick Goldberg of Winchester, Mass.; and three grandchildren, Shoshana and Mirit Poznansky and Alexander Goldberg.
A memorial service will be held at the Wood River Jewish Community, Ketchum Episcopal Church on Sun Valley Road on Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. Donations can be made to the Wood River Jewish Community, Helen Goldberg Memorial Fund, and will be used to build upon a library that she had begun.
