As a kid growing up in Idaho Falls, I spent the summers with my friends at Pinecrest Municipal Golf Course. We rode our bikes there in the morning and stayed all day—playing golf, practicing and just hanging out on the big, shady porches of the ancient log clubhouse. We were never bored and didn't have time to get into trouble.
The children of our valley desire the opportunity to learn the great game of golf and it disturbs me that people like Bali Szabo are trying to keep Hailey from having a public golf course. In his mind, "it's a lousy, financially unproductive use of valuable real estate." Sorry, but one can't put a price on an asset that would benefit young and old year-round and help make Hailey live up to its "Gem Community" status.
