Terry Smith in his Feb. 11 article on sex offenders crossed the line in identifying the juvenile victim of a sexual offender. You didn't need to publish the child's name when you gave the name, age and residence of the offender, the date of the offense and the age of the child at the time, and identified the relationship of the offender to the victim. You have publicly revictimized this very young child. Terry Smith did not take the time to investigate where the child currently lives and what the child (and other siblings) have been told about this situation.
It is an important story, but some modicum of sensitivity needs to be shown to child victims. Shame on Terry Smith, the editors and the owners of this paper for allowing this.
