After reading the recent story in the Express on the carbon monoxide poisoning, I called both my children to ensure that they had monitors in their homes. They do. My daughter, who lives in Seattle, mentioned the story to a friend who is a physician in family medicine. This past Monday, the physician saw a patient who was complaining of fatigue and headache, but had a basically normal exam. The physician, at the last minute, thought about the family in the Wood River Valley, and ordered a carbon monoxide level test, which was sky high. She called the patient at home, but there was no answer. The police were notified, went to the woman's home, and took her to the emergency room. She has fully recovered. As my daughter said in her e-mail, "looks like the story on the Sun Valley family may have saved this patient's life."
Please alert family and friends about the importance of having a carbon monoxide monitor in their homes.
