Gear up for Rotarun's biggest race

Slush Cup returns Saturday

It's called the Slush Cup, but the snow conditions should be cold and terrific instead of warm and slushy Saturday, Feb. 14 when the children's alpine ski race returns to Hailey's Rotarun Ski Area.

Rotarun's Sarah Busdon said, "It's our biggest race of the year—we had 189 kids last year. And the snow conditions are just wonderful now."

Slush Cup sponsor First Bank of Idaho will provide special coins to all participants. And there will be trophies for the top finishers in each class.

Registration is Saturday from 8:30-10 a.m. at Rotarun. Racing begins at 11 a.m. Entry fee is $15 per racer. There are Ski Team and Non-Ski Team categories. Slush Cup age groups are 4-and-under, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12. Concessions will be available to everybody.

It's a good time of year to try the simple fun of Rotarun.

Night skiing at Rotarun happens Wednesdays and Fridays from 6-9 p.m., with lift tickets $12 for adults.

Weekend skiing at Rotarun is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Weekend lift tickets are $15 adults, $8 juniors ages 12-17, $5 children ages 6-11 and free for 5-and-under. Junior and children weekend fees also apply to night skiing.
