Read a good love story lately?

'Sun Valley Love Stories' edited by Walter Littenberg. $14.95

Sun Valley resident Walter Littenberg heard a few stories that struck a chord. Cupid's chord in fact.

"I create products for a living," he said. "I had this idea at Gary Grimes' 60th birthday party at the Roosevelt to put together something on love stories."

So he put out a few calls to folks he knew or had heard about and asked them to write their own stories about how they met their spouse or partner.

"I likened it to pulling teeth or herding cats," he said, laughing. "But these stories put you back into the goodness of the moment. It reconnects you."

The resulting book, "Sun Valley Love Stories," will be officially released on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, from 4-6 p.m. at the Sun Valley Club on Trail Creek Road. The party will celebrate Valentine's Day and will be attended by the contributors, though everyone is invited.

There are 38 stories, some long, some short. Some have poetry. All have photos of the couples and they run from Aanestad to Zarkos. The oldest story comes from Betsy Pearson about meeting her late husband, Bob, in 1945.

"This is a celebration of love," Littenberg said.

After the event, the books will be available at Chapter One Bookstore in Ketchum and at the Sun Valley Gift Shop, or by calling (800) 835-0700. The proceeds will be donated to the Croy Canyon Ranch Foundation.
