Skiers Spot Salmon Sliding Down Dollar

The sight of two salmon on Dollar Mountain isn’t common, but that’s just what skiers there saw on Wednesday. Under the fishy-looking suits were two salmon advocates from Idaho Rivers United, including former Idaho Mountain Express reporter and current IRU assistant policy director Greg Stahl, right. The conservationists hit the slopes to highlight their efforts to convince part-time valley resident Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., to take the lead on the salmon restoration issue. IRU is asking Kerry to sponsor legislation authorizing the removal of four large dams on the lower Snake River in southeast Washington that are the last barrier salmon must cross before reaching Idaho.
