Sports summary


Cabin Fever for SV5B swimmers

SV5B swimmer Kaedi Fry, 12, nearly broke the one-minute mark in 100 freestyle and brought home the gold during last weekend's Caldwell Cabin Fever Swim Invitational meet in the Treasure Valley. Her winning time was 1:00.04. Fry captured gold in 200 breast, 100 IM, 100 fly and 200 back, too.

Joining Fry on the winner's stand was Lena Friesen, 14, with golds in 200 breast, 200 IM, 200 free and 100 breast. Other top SV5B individual results: Elizabeth Fry 2nd 100 and 200 breast; Colby Werley 4th 200 breast; Kelsey Syms 6th 200 IM; Megan Hayes 2nd 100 back; Tori Emerick 5th 50 free; Ellie Shay 9th 100 breast; and Gene Fairbrother 5th 100 back.

Silver medalists in relays were the 14-and-under 200 medley team of Kelsey Syms, Kaedi Fry, Elizabeth Fry and Colby Werley, and the girls' 200 free relay with Elizabeth and Kaedi Fry, Werley and Friesen.

Cheerleaders compete in Nampa

The Soldier Mountain All-Star Cheerleaders of Hailey recently competed at the Idaho Cheer and Dance Challenge at the Idaho Center in Nampa.

In a competitive field featuring a multitude of cheerleaders from around the region, the SMAS Dazzling Dancers were awarded first place. The Silver Star, Black Diamond and Green Emerald teams garnered second places in their divisions.

McKenzie Brown was first in jumps and Kami Norbom first in dance. Sebastian Hanks was runner-up in tumbling. Isabel Romero and Hunter Schiermeier were third in cheer duo. Fourth place in tumbling went to Alaylia Norton and Jessica Richardson.
