Citizens Look To Stay Smart

Outgoing Blaine County Administrator Mike McNees speaks at the annual members meeting of Citizens for Smart Growth at the Inn at Ellsworth Estate in Hailey on Wednesday, Jan. 28. He said Blaine County has to "decide what it wants to be when it grows up." He said the county should look to urban planner Andrès Duany’s "Smart Code" program, which considers instead how entities can fit together as one picture with context-appropriate architecture and planning. "How do we function as a whole?" he asked. McNees will depart in March for a job with USA Track & Field. Express photo by David N. Seelig
