Am I a liberal? Am I for human rights? Who am I?
Every day I question what I stand for. It is not that I doubt myself and what I want for the world, but labels such as liberal and human rights seem to confuse me.
How can a liberal support a violent culture?
I have said to myself, if I am for human rights, how could I support a society in which children are violently abused and women are considered sub humans?
If I am for human rights, could I support a society that trains its children to be terrorists and uses them for human shields?
If I am for human rights, could I support a society that vows to murder those who don't practice religion as they do?
If I am for human rights, could I support a society that cuts off tongues, hands and feet of those who try to speak freely?
I am a liberal. I respect human rights.
I am for the society that is based on love and respect for its citizens, that protects its children from abuse and becoming suicide bombers.
A true liberal stands for decency. Israel represents decency.
