Friday night lights

Slopestyle event revs up the riding at Rotarun

Sun Valley skier Luke Rizzo shines under the lights at Rotarun Friday.

Home is where the heart is for some, and for snowboarders and jibbers, home is just a matter of course -- where it is anyway.

Despite the cancellation of the Intermountain Snowboard competition scheduled to take place on Bald Mountain last weekend, organizers were determined the athletes would still have an event in which to compete. Hence, the Rotarun Slopestyle on Friday, three miles west of Hailey.

"It was a pretty good event for throwing it together on Tuesday," SVSEF snowboard director Andy Gilbert said. "We built a couple tabletops and had some rails, cranked up the lights and about 35 kids showed up. It was great."
