Bellevue's Isaac Sherbine might be a rookie when it comes to the X-Games, but in no way can he be considered green when it comes to snowmobiles.
The 19-year-old Wood River High School graduate rode to sixth place in the Snow Machine Freestyle Competition at the Winter X-Games in Aspen, Colo., last week.
The freestyle event features five ramps ranging in size from 65 to 110 feet. Riders launch off the ramps of their choosing, throw a trick and come down on a landing, explained Terri Sherbine, Isaac's mother.
"He was happy," Sherbine said. "He had something break in his suspension during practice, so he came up a little short."
Isaac's training partner and roommate, 23-year-old Heath Frisby, rode to the bronze medal in the event, and another training buddy, Joe Parsons, won two gold medals.
