SV5B and Wood River High School swimming standout Racheal McGinnis, 18, is enjoying a stellar senior season. Last week, McGinnis competed in the 2009 Washington Open against national- and Olympic-caliber racers. With most events boasting more than 200 racers each, McGinnis made the finals in three of her qualifying events, the 200 IM, 50 free and 100 back. In December, she raced in the 2008 Oregon Senior Open, placing sixth in the 50 and 100 free.
McGinnis, an Idaho state champion many times over, has committed to swim for the University of Denver next season.
