Farr and Kern seventh at U.S. Figure Skating finals
Qualifying with a silver medal at the Eastern Sectional Championships last fall, Sun Valley Figure Skating Club's Lauren Farr, with her partner Mac Kern, defeated six other pairs skaters to place seventh at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Cleveland, Ohio Jan 19-25. It was their second trip to nationals.
Competing against the 13 best Junior Pairs teams in the country, Farr and Kern found themselves within reach of the podium after skating a beautiful short program which landed them in fifth place going into the freeskate. The pair enjoyed a strong start in their long program, but a few errors dropped them to seventh in the final standings. Last year, skating at the lower Novice Pairs competitive level, Farr and Kern also finished seventh.
Farr is an Idaho Falls native who has trained in Sun Valley and found her partner, University of Delaware student Kern, two years ago through an internet search.
