Youth hockey teams from Salmon and Idaho Falls joined two Sun Valley girls' hockey teams and the Sun Valley Twisters women for a weekend of tournament fun at Sun Valley Skating Center Jan. 23-25.

In its eagerly anticipated Senior Recognition game Saturday, the SV Black U-19 girls got fired up from crowd support and beat the Idaho Falls Eagles 3-1 on goals by Ashley Hesteness (2) and Aimee Evans. Assists went to Tanner Dredge and Erin Hennessy.

Sun Valley Black clashed with Idaho Falls again on Sunday, this time with the score staying at 1-1. Nellie Brown, assisted by Frannie Sensenbrenner, got the goal. Brown and Evans earned the game pucks for the first two games.

Black girls matched up with Idaho Falls Eagles for a mixed team game later Sunday. All of the girls from the cross-state girls' hockey programs had fun playing as teammates.

The younger Sun Valley Red girls also had a successful weekend and played well as a team. They lost their first game 4-3 to Sun Valley Twisters, then tied the Salmon Lady Rapids twice by 2-2 scores.

Maddie Miller, who was awarded the tournament jersey, scored four of the seven Red goals—with Ellie Swanson, Georgy Goodwin and Elena Almquist getting the others. Assists went to India Emerick, Swanson (4) and Miller.

Earning game pucks were Sun Valley Red players Allison Fleutsch, Morgan Pintler and India Emerick. Also seeing action last weekend were Camille Bourret, Gina Rickling, Olivia Mason, Tate Reed-McDorman, Daniela Stokes, Devan Ellison-Annan, Dylan Peterson, Emma Wilander and Kelly Hennessy.

Sun Valley Twisters women skated away undefeated, 4-3 over Sun Valley Red and 2-1 over Salmon.

Twisters goals came from Sara Schroeder (3), Lisa Wood (2) and Nancy Parsons-Brown. Assists went to Tristan Ellison-Gralenski (2) and Lisa Wood. The tournament MVPs were Jennifer Schultz and Dana Price. Goalie Linda McMahon won the tournament Johnny Bravo jacket.
