Mogul skiers fly through the weekend fog

Slopestyle event at Rotarun is a winner

Weather turned out to be the greatest challenge for freestyle skiers from the Intermountain Division who converged on Baldy last weekend to face each other in moguls.

Dense fog hung over the course on Roundhouse Slope Friday and Saturday. Competitors waited out the fog and managed to get two days of single mogul competitions done.

Sun Valley alum, Shane Cordeau was the best of the men both days, winning the overall title. Sun Valley Freestyle Ski Team ski team Zana Davey had another terrific weekend taking second place overall on Friday and first place overall on Saturday.

On Sunday the Sun Valley team played host to its very first slopestyle event at Hailey's Rotarun Ski Area. And the weather again was a factor.

A welcome snowstorm made speed and visibility difficult but the competitors threw down their best stuff on a great slopestyle course built by Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation coaches and Rotarun mountain management.

Colter Brehmer, Tai Barrymore, Austin Moses and Ben Parker all finished in the top 10.

Sun Valley Freestyle Ski Team program director Andy Ware said, "It was a great weekend. It took a lot of patience and understanding to get it all done. My thanks to Sun Valley Company, SV Ski Patrol, Rotarun mountain management, and all the volunteers, parents and competitors for making it such a success."
