First week of Town Series in the books

Racing on Cozy

There were 121 racers taking their first turns on Baldy's Cozy run Wednesday as the 18th annual Sun Valley Town Series debuted for 2009, co-sponsored by Sun Valley Co. and Watkins Distributing.

Wood River Masonry (Sean Higgins, Wes Powell, Jon McCuskey and Cam Fraser) looked like it is going to battle it out with Tekasoreass's (Carl Rixon Jr., Matt Murphy, Sean Murphy and Chris Key)—and the Cutters (Chase Gouley, John Campbell, Will Hovey and Kelly Kipling) looked sharp.

Top single runs Wednesday were: Rixon 24.00 seconds, Matt Murphy 24.08, Sean Higgins 24.09, Powell 24.38, Campbell 24.63, Brett Jacobson 24.95, Randy Flood 24.99, Fraser 25.01, John Summers 25.62 and Erika Hogan 25.64. Clocking the "rabbit time" of 31.44 was Mita Marie of Idaho Power.

Next Wednesday after the 11 a.m. dual modified giant slalom races for 33 teams, the party is at the Casino in Ketchum.
