Senior girls to be honored during weekend hockey

Salmon, Idaho Falls visit SV U-19 girls

Three outstanding senior skaters will be recognized Saturday afternoon at Sun Valley Skating Center during the weekend girls' and women's hockey tournament.

Wood River High School seniors Devan Ellison-Annan and Aimee Evans, along with Community School senior Mattie Griswold will be saluted Saturday about 4 p.m. prior to a scheduled round-robin tournament game between Sun Valley U-19 "Black" and Idaho Falls.

Sun Valley "Black" is the upper-level team of the local prep girls' ice hockey program. Competing in eight games this weekend are the "Black" team along with a younger Sun Valley "Red" squad plus Idaho Falls and Salmon prep squads, and the Sun Valley Twister women.

Here is the schedule:

Saturday, Jan. 24: 8:50 a.m., Sun Valley "Red" vs. Sun Valley Twisters; at 12:10 p.m., Salmon vs. Idaho Falls; at 2:40 p.m., Sun Valley "Red" vs. Salmon; and at 4 p.m., Sun Valley "Black" vs. Idaho Falls.

Sunday, Jan. 25: At 9:20 a.m., Salmon vs. Sun Valley Twisters; at 10:40 a.m., Idaho Falls vs. Sun Valley "Black"; at 12 noon, Salmon vs. Sun Valley "Red"; and at 1:20 p.m., Idaho Falls (mixed) vs. Sun Valley "Black" (mixed).
