The Wood River High School's Be a Fan team will host a Winter Wonder Fun Carnival on Saturday, Jan. 24, from noon to 3 p.m. at the high school in Hailey. The carnival will raise money for the Snowflake Ball, to be hosted by the school for Special Olympics athletes.
Indoor and outdoor games for the whole family will include an obstacle course, human dogsled race and snowman building (if there is snow). Inside will be karaoke, hopscotch, beanbag toss, Twister, dodge ball, cakewalk, board games and more.
Indoor crafts will relate to snow and winter with make-and-take projects. Also at the craft area people can make gifts for the Special Olympian gift bags that the Be A Fan team is assembling for the athletes.
Pizza, hotdogs, popcorn, ice cream, cotton candy, caramel apples, cocoa and soft drinks will be available for purchase. As well there will be a dessert cook-off with three categories: cookies, cakes and pies. Anyone who brings a dessert for the competition will be admitted free to the carnival. Desserts must be entered by 1 p.m. for judging. Awards will be presented at 2 p.m. Prizes have been donated by local restaurants and coffeehouses.
Entry is $10 for a family of four or $3 per person. Kids under 5 are free.
