A jury trial started Wednesday in 5th District Court in Hailey for a Blaine County man who is accused of beating his wife.

Forty-seven-year old Eric J. Buchwald is charged with felony domestic battery for allegedly injuring the woman last April.

According to Blaine County court records, Buchwald was also charged with felony domestic battery for allegedly injuring the same woman last February. That charge was dismissed in a plea agreement in the Blaine County Prosecuting Attorney's Office after Buchwald pleaded guilty to resisting arrest and was sentenced to 11 days in jail.

Court records further state that the woman filed for divorce last June.

Buchwald's trial is expected to last three days.
