Arkoosh Cup to bring kids to Rotarun

Hailey’s hill offers skiing four days a week

Hailey's Rotarun Ski Area is open for business in 2009—four days a week including two evenings of night skiing.

Families will head to the hill three miles west of Hailey on Saturday, Jan. 17 for the annual Arkoosh Cup giant slalom sponsored by Rotarun Ski Club for kids 12-and-under.

Registration is Saturday from 9-10 a.m. at Rotarun with racing at 11 a.m. Age classes in both Ski Team and Non-Ski Team categories are 11-12, 9-10, 7-8, 5-6 and 4-and-under. Entry fee of $15 includes a lift ticket.

Age class winners will receive trophies but all participants will earn stickers in the Arkoosh Cup, said Sarah Busdon of Rotarun Ski Club.

Rotarun's Town League is coming

Busdon said about Rotarun Ski Area's mission, "We're all about affordability and fun."

Rotarun Ski Area's night skiing started Jan. 9 and happens two evenings a week from 6-9 p.m., on Wednesdays and Fridays. Night skiing lift tickets are $12 for adults.

Busdon said the "Friday Night Lights" Town League is being organized for two dates, Jan. 30 and Feb. 20. More details will be forthcoming.

Weekend skiing at Rotarun is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Weekend lift tickets are $15 adults, $8 juniors ages 12-17, $5 children ages 6-11 and free for 5-and-under. Junior and children weekend fees also apply to night skiing.
