Local J3s dominate in Wright tech races

On Park City’s CB’s, Picabo runs

Hailey Ski Team second-year J3 (13-14) racer Amanda Stelling takes a turn en route to first place in Saturday’s David Wright Memorial girls’ slalom race on Picabo’s Run at Park City, Utah. Stelling blew away the 49-racer field, winning both runs and taking a 2.40-second victory over Sun Valley’s second-year J3 Teagen Palmer. Photo by

Sweeping the David Wright Memorial slalom podium in convincing fashion at Park City, Utah last weekend were local J3 (ages 13-14) girls Amands Stelling, Teagen Palmer and Nicole Roos. That was a highlight of the USSA technical races there.

On Picabo's run, second-year J4 Stelling nailed the course with a 1:39.59 two-run clocking, 2.40 seconds ahead of Palmer and three seconds faster than Roos. In Sunday's giant slalom on CB's, Stelling came through with another great run, good for second place with Palmer taking third, two seconds back.

There were 23 Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation (SVSEF) and Hailey Ski Team (HST) racers in the 120-racer field of the Intermountain Division's best J3 alpine ski racers. Other podium winners were Kipling Weisel and Connor Farrow.
