Ketchum seeks help with hydrants

By JON DUVAL
Express Staff Writer

The Ketchum fire and water departments are looking for volunteers to help ensure public safety this winter.

An "adopt-a-hydrant" program has been proposed to assist the departments by keeping fire hydrants clear of snow. Participants would be responsible for removing snow from around their neighborhood hydrants and contacting the Ketchum Fire Department if there are any problems with the hydrant.

The program has been initiated to help the departments maintain access to Ketchum's hydrants and keep them in safe working order.

Residents in the Ketchum Rural Fire District are also encouraged to help keep cisterns and dry hydrants clear of snow. A Ketchum Fire Department press release stated that residents in the district should locate the closest cistern or hydrant and make sure it is easily accessible by clearing away snow, debris and foliage.

For more information on the program, contact Ketchum Fire Department Lt. Lara McLean at 726-7805.
