All right, here we go again. This time it would be nice if we could get it right. How are we going to do that?
Well, this time, we’ll have a year with no health problems. We’ll be strong and fit and we’ll say good-bye to harmful habits. We all will have enough money to pay our bills and save a little out for those unforeseen emergencies that always seem to arise. Our jobs will be secure and we will be able to plan ahead for the good times. This time the people we love will love us right back because they’ll see and know us as we really are.
This year we won’t make careless mistakes and, if we do, we’ll rectify them at once. This year our friends and families will be happy and safe. We will have new leaders who will be compassionate and intelligent and who will embrace the people of the nations of the world. Maybe this year words will replace bullets.
Is that too much to hope for—health, prosperity, peace, love, wisdom and compassion? I hope not. I think not. Doesn’t the world and its people deserve a time of serenity? If ever we did, we certainly do now.
So, my wish for all of you in 2009 is that your hearts will be full and your dreams fulfilled. It’s all possible. The past and guilt are gone. The future is unknown. But, just for this time, we can all start again.
And, for this time, it would be awfully nice if we could get it right.
For this time, nice talking to you.
