With up to a foot of snow forecast for the weekend, Sun Valley Co. is looking forward to brisk business on Bald Mountain heading into the holidays. Skiers and snowboarders will be able to take advantage of recent openings of additional terrain and lifts.

On Thursday, the resort put the Exhibition, Sunnyside and Greyhawk chairlifts into operation on Baldy, and the Dollar and Half Dollar lifts on Dollar Mountain. As well, the Christmas chairlift near the top of River Run opened Wednesday.

Upper and Mid Warm Springs runs were opened Monday, and Lower College and the children's Kinderspielplatz carpet at the base of River Run were scheduled to open today.

Sun Valley Co. spokesman Jack Sibbach said the Greyhawk, Ridge and Cutoff runs would likely open soon and that the mountain operations staff is monitoring the weather to ensure that more terrain opens as soon as possible.

"It just depends on how much snow we get over the next couple days," Sibbach said. "We still have our goal of having most of the mountain open by Christmas."

That includes Seattle Ridge, which has received a concentrated snowmaking effort, Sibbach said.

On Dollar, Cabin Practice Slope, Sepp's Bowl and Race Hill opened Thursday, with access to Dollar Face and New Bowl beginning today.

Sun Valley also announced that the resort's early/late season pass will be honored through Sunday, Dec. 21.
