Carey cage teams sweep on Fairfield visit

Mushers play Panthers tough on court


It was a clean sweep for the Carey School basketball teams on their visit to Camas County Tuesday for Northside Conference girls' and boys' games.

Carey junior Brett Adamson picked up where he left off in last weekend's Carey Holiday Tournament. He scored a game-high 16 points including two from long distance as Carey (3-0, 1-0) captured its first league victory 60-37 over Camas (0-1).

Nine Panthers ended up scoring led by Trevor Peck 11 points, Dillon Simpson 8, Wacey Barg 8, Jacy Baird 8, Tyler Chavez 4 and Gonzalo Zarate 4. For Camas, Cody Stroder (15 points) and Cory Brand (9) topped the attack.

Carey travels to Northside pre-season favorite Richfield (1-0) for a big Northside grudge match tonight, Friday.

In the girls' varsity game, Carey and Camas County battled evenly throughout the first half before the Panthers pulled away in the fourth quarter and prevailed 42-23 for their third Northside Conference league win of the young season.

Carey's Kelsey Green (three 3-pointerse) continued her hot shooting with a game-high 13 points, Jessica Parke added 9, Amy Ellsworth 6 and Taylor Whitby 6. For Camas (3-3, 1-3) Erica Phantharasen led the way with 10 points and Katelyn Peterson chipped in with 7.

Carey (4-2, 3-0 league) visited unbeaten Richfield (5-0, 1-0 league, averaging 7.6 ppg) Thursday night and goes to Dietrich (4-2, 4-0 league) on Tuesday, Dec. 16 for another big Northside league contest.
