The Jerome County Sheriff's Office reported Monday that a Bellevue man accused of kidnapping and having sex with a 14-year-old girl has been located in Mexico along with the alleged victim.

Thirty-five-year-old Hector Guerrero-Castillo was reportedly arrested on Friday, Dec. 5, near Mexico City. U.S. and Mexican authorities had been searching for him since Oct. 23 when the girl, a Hispanic student at Jerome High School, was reported missing.

"The victim was safe and the suspect was taken into custody without incident," the sheriff's office reported. "He is being held in Mexico on unrelated charges. Extradition proceedings are in progress."

The sheriff's office further reported that an arrest warrant charges Guerrero-Castillo with first-degree kidnapping. Jerome County court records in October stated that Guerrero-Castillo was also charged with 10 counts of lewd conduct with a minor child under 16. The court file on the case is now sealed and additional information regarding the case was not available.

The sheriff's office reported in October that Guerrero-Castillo had been allegedly involved sexually with the girl for several months.

Court records indicate that Guerrero-Castillo is not an illegal immigrant. He was free on $25,000 bond on the lewd conduct charges when he allegedly disappeared with the girl.
