Maxine E. (Beltran) Uhrig, 72, of Shoshone, died at home after a lengthy bout with cancer on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008. She was surrounded by her family.
A rosary will be held Friday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Shoshone. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Shoshone, 205 N. Alta St. in Shoshone. Following internment, a celebration of Maxine's life and a reception will occur back at the church.
Maxine was born on Jan. 20, 1936, in Bingham Canyon, Utah. She moved to Triumph, Idaho, in April 1939 with her mother and father, Anna and Mike, and her three sisters, Marian, Madeline and Martha. Maxine attended first grade at the North Star School in Triumph. The family moved to Hailey in 1941 where Maxine started her second grade. She completed grade school at Hailey Elementary School and high school at Hailey High School. She graduated in 1953.
Maxine and Ted Uhrig were marred in June 1953 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Hailey. The couple lived in Hailey many years and raised six sons: Ken (Denise), John (Lennie), Scott (Chris), Ed, Curtis (Lisa) and Phillip (Jennifer). The couple then moved to Shoshone where they lived for the past several years.
Maxine leaves behind her husband, Ted, and their six sons; her mother, Anna Beltran of Hailey; and her two sisters, Marian Nelson and Martha Bolliger, both of Hailey. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren: Morgan, Chase, Brandon, Monica, Josh, Jake, Jackson, Kennedy, Jessica, Miranda, Madeline, Mia and Jacob, and one great-grandchild, Ashley. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews. Maxine was preceded in death by her father, Mike, and one sister, Madeline.
