Less than a week after purchasing two wheel clamps or boots, the Ketchum Police Department kicked off its new policy of immobilizing vehicles with three or more outstanding parking violations.

Ketchum Police Department spokesperson Kim Rogers said that on Monday morning a parking enforcement officer spotted a Buick registered to a Hailey resident with nine outstanding tickets.

The tickets, all issued between February and August of this year, totaled $315 owed to the city for parking infractions.

Within 30 minutes of immobilizing the car, the owner had the clamp removed by paying the tickets, plus an additional $50 boot removal fee and $25 in administrative costs.

The Police Department will immobilize vehicles with three or more outstanding tickets regardless of whether they are parked illegally at the time.
